I’m tired of trying to recall some book I heard about that I want to read, and not remembering it. Without further ado, in no particular order:
- “Freekonomics”
- “The Content of Our Character: A New Vision of Race In America” by Shelby Steele
- Frank Kingston Smith’s “Weekend Pilot”
- Buck’s “North Star over My Shoulder”
- “Fate is the Hunter” by Ernie Gann
- “Flying South” by Barbara Cushman Rowell — especially good for the flying companion
- A bunch of Apollo program books that sound interesting — saved in an old mail I’ll dig up.
Care to suggest any others?
I’ve got the hardcover of Freakonomics, you’re welcome to borrow it! Will bring it in this week.
Great book, hard to remember all the details. I read it twice in an effort to retain more, but apparently my brain is only so big anymore… c’est la vie.
There are so many books to read… my backlog is endless. There’s a book by Robert A. Heinlen, “Variable Star” that was finished up by Spider Robinson (an author I have not heard of) and I’ve seen a couple of reviews saying it was very well done. I loved the innocence of those early spacefaring stories, like “Have Spacesuit, Will Travel” and I’m hoping this is a little bit retro like that too.
Freakonomics rocks. If you like it, also try “The Tipping Point” by Malcom Gladwell.
If “Fate is the Hunter” is something you like (Awsome book) try Michener’s (sp?) “The Bridges of Toko Ri”
